Sierra Weston is a Toronto based artist and writer from the California Bay Area.
She holds a B.A. from the University of California, Davis in Design and Art History, as well as an M.A. in Art History from the University of Toronto.
She is interested in the way that the subconscious leaks into the creative process, and the way the subliminal messages of ideology and emotion can be transferred through art, architecture, and other modes of creation. Much of her visual work, while wide ranging in subject, shares an undercurrent interest in Surrealist practices like automatic writing and drawing. These are practices she does not utilize as occult, but instead as ones that enable the easiest transference of something deeper between people than what language allows in the realm of spirit and feeling.
She has been an Artist-in-Residence at PIX Film Gallery, and as a member of two experimental music groups, Ecotone Orchestra and Sweet Lips, she sings and plays the no-input mixer.
